Recent research has shown that D-aspartic acid acts as a specialized neurotransmitter, specifically in the parts of the nervous system that are involved in the production of certain hormones.
In these investigations it has been pointed out that it stimulates the release of LH, Luteinizing Hormone or Lutropin (which stimulates ovulation in women and the production of testosterone in men), and HGH, Growth Hormone or Somatotropin of the pituitary gland (which has anabolic effects on all body tissues).
